Cedar Falls, Iowa – February 11, 2009 –The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI), in conjunction with LWBJ Financial, today announced the finalists for the fourth annual Prometheus Awards. The awards are Iowa's most prestigious information technology awards and were created to celebrate and help promote excellence within Iowa’s high-tech industry.
“These are the academy awards of the technology industry,” said TAI president Leann Jacobson. “Prometheus Awards are given to the best and brightest in the industry: inventors, innovators, researchers, and educators whose work is helping drive Iowa’s economy forward, even in challenging economic times.”
This year’s winners will be announced at an evening ceremony on March 3rd, 2009 at the Meadows Convention Center in Altoona. Over 500 industry leaders from business, education, and government are expected to attend the awards ceremony.
Keynoting the March 3rd awards event will be Walter Puschner, vice president of worldwide field information technology at Microsoft Corporation. In this role, Puschner runs Microsoft's internal IT for 80,000 employees and meets with enterprise customers from around the globe. He has also worked with Microsoft customers and partners in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, ensuring their positive relationships with the company. His oversight has touched all areas of the company's external interactions, from customer sales, service, and support through collaboration with the software development community and distribution channels.
The Prometheus Awards Ceremony is co-sponsored by LWBJ Financial. Additional sponsors include Net Direct Systems; TEAM Technologies; Applied Art and Technology; Entrepreneurial Development Center; McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLC; and Renew Rural Iowa.
“Finalists for the awards are advancing technology—not only in Iowa, but across the country,” said Paul Juffer, Senior Partner at LWBJ. “Their innovations are helping solve global challenges in industry, education, medicine, and the environment.”
